Children and Family Health Development Worker, based in Yew Tree/West Derby/Tuebrook Children’s Centre, in Liverpool
£20,344 per annum/35 hours per week/initially fixed term to 31st March 2020, with a strong possibility of a an extension until 31st March 2021

The position of Children and Family Health Development Worker is a diverse role where no two days are the same. The Children and Family Health Development Worker will work directly with children & their Families to promote and put in place practices that support Children’s physical, emotional health and wellbeing

This will involve developing & strengthening partnerships with Midwifery, Health Visiting, PSS PND, LIV PIP, Smoke free Liverpool and Housing services to ensure children and families are in receipt of appropriate support and services.

The role includes the facilitation of Accredited Parenting Programmes on subjects including Accident Prevention, Health & nutrition as well as Ante Natal and Breastfeeding.

Supporting women to consider, initiate and sustain Breastfeeding is an area we are passionate about. The Post holder will work with Liverpool BAMBI’s and our own BAMBI’s volunteers to promote, raise awareness and support women in our communities to Breastfeed.

Promoting Healthy weight in Children is an area of focus for our Centre. The post holder will develop and deliver a range of one to one and group sessions that will equip Parents with the knowledge & skills to provide their families with healthy nutritious meals & snacks and increase physical activity

The role involves working with Children & families in their homes. The support is graduated from universal to targeted and dependent upon the needs of each family.

The Worker will provide direct support to children and their families facing a range of difficulties. Additional support is put in place at an early stage to help divert families from requiring higher threshold. With the family and partner agencies you will develop individual targeted plans of intervention in accordance with the needs of the child and their family as part of the Early Help Assessment process.

Your interpersonal skills will be key in establishing trust to form relationships with Parents/Carers to ensure their co-operation to work with you to achieve the best outcomes for their children

To evidence the impact of our work we produce reports and case studies throughout the year. These are used to inform self-evaluation, shape service delivery and celebrate achievements

Based in Tuebrook/West Derby/Yew Tree Children’s Centre in Liverpool, you will be qualified to NVQ level 3 or equivalent professional qualification in health, social care, childcare, or education. You will be experienced in a community setting in health promotion or public health, in working with vulnerable groups, and working with children aged 0-5 and their families.

You will understand current health promotion and public health issues, child development from 0 to 5, and understand the ethos and services of children’s centres. An enhanced DBS will be undertaken
