It has been three years since First Steps began operating footprints@netherton nursery. Based in Netherton Family Wellbeing Centre in Magdalen Square, Netherton, it has been a rewarding and exciting three years.
Company Deputy Manager Sarah Mercer explains more: ‘When we started, the nursery was one room for two-year-olds only. We now have two rooms, Rainforest 1, which caters for our three and four-year-olds, and Rainforest 2, which looks after our two-year-olds. Children are the heart of all we do in Netherton, and we provide educational and fun activities for our children in a caring environment’. The staff team has grown to reflect this expansion.
The setting obtained Ofsted registration on 21st May 2018 and commenced operations on 1st June 2021, taking over from Sefton Council, who had previously successfully run the nursery. During its three years of operation as footprints@netherton operated by First Steps, the nursery gained ‘good’ during its Ofsted inspection in 2020 which said that ‘Leaders and the manager are passionate about enriching the experiences of young children and their families. Together, with the help of staff and parents, they evaluate the quality of the setting and the plans for future changes. Staff put children at the heart of the setting.’
Company Managing Director, Ian Merrison adds ‘We would like to thank Jackie, the nursery manager, Clare, the Deputy, and the whole team for all they have achieved. Thank you all our families who have supported us. This last year has been a challenge with covid-19, but the team has risen to the challenge, and we are moving forward.
