17.5 hours, 8.45am to 12.15pm Monday to Friday; term-time only

We are looking a dedicated and skilled High Level Teaching Assistant (Level 4) to work in Lydiate Primary School to commence as soon as possible, initially until the end of the July 2021 school term. The Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) post is linked to Government catch up funding and the candidate would be required to cover classes from Y1 to Y6 to release the class teacher to deliver catch-up. The candidate may also be required to deliver group interventions and provide pastoral support.
The purpose of the post is to provide and deliver learning activities to whole classes of pupils from years 1 to 6 when the class teacher is not present. The HLTA will plan, prepare and deliver lessons and assess, mark, record and report on development, progress and attainment, under the direction of class teachers. In addition, the HLTA will work independently with whole classes and groups of pupils and deliver group interventions
It is essential that the candidate has excellent literacy and numeracy skills, and strong experience of delivering quality learning activities in a primary school environment. The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills and be able to work independently and as part of a team. S/he must meet Higher Level Teaching Assistant standards and hold an NVQ Level 3 or above in Specialist Teaching & Learning Support, Teaching & Learning Support, CCLD or equivalent. We would also accept applicants from those with Qualified Teacher Status with experience at primary level.
Due to the nature of work the above post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and relevant care/safeguarding legislation and appointment will only be confirmed if a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure is obtained from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), plus two references, and right to work in the United Kingdom.
