Number of Positions & Hours:

  • 1 full time (35 hours ) and 1 part-time (17.5 hours )
  • OR 3 part time positions (17.5 hours )

Salary: £31,022 per annum (pro – rate for part time) – 17 £ per hour

Contract: At Least for 6 Months

About the Role

The SEN/Disability Worker role is a varied and rewarding position where no two days are the same. You will be supporting children aged 0–5 with additional needs, alongside their families, ensuring they receive the right early help and intervention to reach their full potential.

This role focuses on early identification, family support, and coordinating services to ensure children are ready to learn and successfully transition into nursery or school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver early intervention and Early Help support to children and families
  • Complete Early Help Assessments (EHAT) and coordinate Team Around the Family (TAF) meetings
  • Work in partnership with external agencies including SALT, Alder Hey, Health Visitors, nurseries, and schools
  • Develop and deliver both group sessions and individual support plans
  • Support parents to understand and meet their child’s developmental needs
  • Model effective strategies for parents to use at home
  • Carry out home visits to support families in creating positive learning environments
  • Identify speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) at an early stage
  • Support children through universal, targeted, and specialist intervention pathways
  • Observe and assess children’s development and identify when additional support is needed
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with parents and carers

Group Work & Family Support

  • Facilitate parenting programmes such as:
    • Tots Talk
    • Parents & Play
    • Sleep Workshops
  • Deliver universal and targeted group sessions to support children’s development
  • Work alongside parents to build confidence and improve outcomes for children
  • Promote inclusion and ensure all families feel supported and engaged

SEN & Early Years Focus

  • Support children aged 0–5 with additional and complex needs
  • Contribute to early identification of developmental delay
  • Work with PVI settings to support language development and track progress
  • Deliver targeted interventions for children with complex needs
  • Promote inclusive practice within the Children’s Centre

What We’re Looking For

  • Level 3 qualification in Early Years, Childcare, Health & Social Care, or Education (or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of child development (birth to 5 years)
  • Understanding of SEN/Disability and early intervention approaches
  • Experience working with children, young people, and families
  • Ability to build positive relationships with families and professionals
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Safeguarding & Compliance

  • Enhanced DBS (to be undertaken)
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and families
  • Understanding of Children’s Centre services and ethos
